Expedition Cooking with the Enoch Royal Knights

Delectable survival cooking from the down-on-her-luck elf!

Despite being born as a Fore Elf—one of the “beautiful creatures that inhabit the forest”—young Mell Risurisu suffers from poverty, a total lack of skills, and no magic powers whatsoever at her disposal. Determined to save her beloved little sisters from a life of hardship, Mell decides to join Enoch—the royal order of knights. Upon being assigned as a field medic to the Second Expeditionary Squadron, which boasts only four members to its name, she’s shocked to discover…

Bread as hard as stone and rubbery jerky made of mystery meat?!

This simply won’t do! Medic Risurisu’s knowledge as a child of the forest is her greatest weapon in the battle for delicious food on the go!

  • Will this book come out as a paperback? like the other 3 light novels?

  • I was hoping for volume 3 in PDF please.

  • this novel is a bit of my guilty pleasure. it’s very easy to read through since a lot of the chapters are just individual small events, but they do have some under lying plot points regarding the main characters, their relationships etc. I don’t care as much for the cooking portion as much these days but it’s not nearly as bad as campfire cooking for example, and the reactions from the cast about the food can sometimes be comedic. there isn’t any major plots like world destroying catastrophe, so maybe it might feel more like a slice of life, but the characters are mostly likeable, and i enjoyed reading this series quite a bit.

  • I’m really torn. It’s kinda cute but also kinda boring. Each chapter is a new “adventure” but in the end this novel is 90 percent about cooking. It seriously lacks any acion. If there is action it is really short and easily solved. Even when the MC gets kidnapped her kidnappers are no one to take serious, they’re just to happy to have her cook for them.

Also that they have “recipes from other worlds” – in other words Japanese food – shows that this is not a serious, well developed story but just some “feels good” filler for a short break.

The author mentioned that he / she (?) usually writes stories for girls and that this is an attempt to reach boys as well. Honestly, I seriously doubt that, characters like Zara are typical for girls’ books. One good thing is, the characters / teammates (except Zara and the MC) are all in ordinary relationships and that is a really nice change of pace. The teammates are sort of like family but there is no romance option.

    • Now, after reading Vol. 2 and 3 I have to change my opinion a bit. The back story progresses nicely, there is still cooking but a lot less and not everything is Japanese. However they use the term “umami” constantly, the English word is glutamate but I guess that would turn readers off…
Also, not every chapter is a different expedition anymore, some “expeditions” take several chapters and it feels way more like a naturally flowing story now. So it really got way better.

  • ooh its not the usual mc with japanese truck-kun backstory? gonna try it ~
