Heavenly Swords of the Twin Stars

In his past life, Chou Sekiei was the undefeated war hero Kou Eihou—no pressure, right? Now, a thousand years later, all he wants is to get a nice, cushy job as a civil official and build a quiet life for himself. Too bad that he still has fighting prowess he can’t explain. Too bad that as a child, he was taken in by a renowned general and trained alongside Chou Hakurei, famed for her talent and beauty. Too bad that he’s gotten into rescuing pretty (and pretty immature) merchant prodigies. Sekiei was really looking forward to some peace and quiet so he could kick back and read, but when the foreign nation of Gen launches an invasion that triggers war, he’s forced to put his books down. With the power of skills he’d hoped never to put to use again, Sekiei will once more have to make a name on the battlefield… Will he and his friends be enough to save their homeland?

  • Anyone has read this yet ? Need som review because synopsis alone is pretty sus

    • It’s kinda run of the mill for me and overall kinda average. starts off a bit slow, and gets a bit better later on, but just a bit. Basically MC reincarnated into the future with his memories and fighting prowess, but wants to have a laid back life as a civil official rather than fighting. But it’s pretty much a gag since he’s good at fighting, so he keeps getting thrown into it, and of course gets to show off his prowess. it’s mostly pretty generic aside from a few slight novelties, with a lot of cliches we’ve seen a million times. MC is your typical OP MC and is a pleasant, and same for the FMC in the book cover. but they’re not exactly super deep or interesting (so far in volume 1 at least), which means I’m also personally not that attached to them or care about what happens to them. I feel like some of the plot and the story is a little contrived too. So it’s a series that is in the “don’t really care what happens to it” category for me. If there are more volumes I might read it if i have nothing else to read, but if not, i wouldn’t lost any sleep over it.

Another LN that was released alongside this, “The Otome Heroine’s Fight for Survival” is a more worthy read imo if you haven’t tried that. I ended up liking it so much i went on to read the fan translated LNs (I’m at volume 5 now and it’s still really good). The title “Otome herorine” might make some ppl think that it’s just another generic otome game isekai, regression, villainess turned good, kinda series (which I am kind of a sucker for as well), but it’s not. it lives up to its “Action, Adventure, Fantasy” tags better than a lot of other series with these tags, including this Heavenly Swords of the Twin Stars LN.
