well said. never thought of oregairu besides when i first started reading. cuz its so easy to try to make that connection. a few dots connect and you think you have the whole picture. to me this is its own wonderful thing.
holy shit this series is amazing. just finished reading volume 8 and my mind is blown🤯. this author is so good at storytelling. although people will probably interpret it differently than i did.
now i gotta wait for volume 9 since 8.5 is probably just another side story leaving us on a cliff hanger😭i hope it doesnt take half a year🤞

Bah, there were such obviuos homages to oregairu I don’t if I should laugh.
Congratulations to MC for finding his “something genuine” so early on even though I personally can’t agree with it.
You may laugh but you wouldn’t be right. I don’t believe there are any direct homages in the story to Oregairu aside from some similarities that are solely the result of being in the same genre. The notion that the novel tackles the idea of something genuine as presented in Oregairu comes out of left field. I can not even argue that the story tackles the theme in its own unique way as it is not even presented in there. Instead, the main driving force of Tomozaki’s character arc is his conscious effort to enjoy an ordinary life whilst maintaining a life-style approach suitable to him. And that’s essentially it, each character in the story has to confront the way they lead their lives. Of course, the question of integrity and staying true to yourself which would appear to coincide with the idea of remaining genuine but that’s only loosely related to what Oregairu deals with and it’s a common theme in many stories. What Hachiman seeks is a sincere and naked relationship. What Tomozaki seeks is a compromise between what he wants from life and what life expects of him.
Well said. Oregairu is great, 8man is a riot. But I feel Tomozaki, and the story as a whole is more inspiring and engaging
