Halfway through volume 2 and I haven’t been giggling so hard in a long while.
The first volume was rather plain, especially compared to manga, but the sequel raises the bar high, opting for more of a slice of life approach to the story.
Yumiella’s antics are hilarious and the supporting cast is lovely. Misunderstandings are cozy and fun. Great stuff.
A must read for any Tearmoon Empire fan!
A decent enough read. I´d give it a 7/10 on a non-IGN scale.
The MC ´s character is somewhere between the MC from “Make my Abilities average…” and “Loner life in another world” in actual character traits and denseness.
Though a fair bit of that denseness seems to be some sort of coping mechanism to avoid actual emotional relationships.
It is a light and comfortable read, nothing really shitty happens, and the tags the LN has seem to fit.
Its not an epic story about anything, just a nice take on already established tropes.

I don’t understand the negative comments. This is a comedy novel. The MC is reincarnated into a game world, makes herself OP to protect herself and though, among other things, becomes the center of attention despite her trying to be low profile at first but giving that up fast. She is hard working but what makes it funny is that when it comes to certain things like romance she is dense af.
This is a light, enjoyable read and there is nothing heavy about it.
I especially don’t understand anon’s comment below, the MC does her own stuff despite being invited to do other things and gets people to do it her way, forcing for example the “heroes” to level grind.
And I especially don’t understand this battle junky take many readers not only here have. She is a battle junky but just against monsters. So why do so many readers have problems that a MC doesn’t want to mass murder people? Do they love their MC to be like Hitler so much?
It’s not just “certain things” she dense about, she has the IQ of a rug. You don’t have to be Hitler to exercise some basic self-defense instinct and normal human reactions to being betrayed and having multiple attempts on your life, including one by someone you naively trusted. Someone literally stabs her in the back? “Ah well, nooo I don’t want them to be punished for it, let’s all get along like we’re the Care Bears, love and friendship will save the day.”
If she had any semblance of being an actual human being (you know, the thing the author is supposedly trying to write about), it would’ve been better. Instead she’s just a dipshit who just floats around like driftwood as things happen to her.
Going by the comment below, the light novel is tamer and less violent than the original web novel, so perhaps this is partly the editor’s/publisher’s fault too. “Controversial” themes like sex and violence get axed into oblivion when adapted into light novels all the time, which sucks. Oh well, there are plenty of other things to read.
Yes, the novel uses the typical tropes to make her dense, like only she thinks her gigantic dragon is cute. That’s a thing pretty much all LN’s have. I guess authors add that stuff for a possible manga or anime conversion.
I once read a really dark and grim web novel and at one point there was suddenly also a scene that just screemed “comedy anime” and it was unfitting as hell. I’m afraid that’s just how Japanese do these things.
The MC doesn’t want to kill and she tries everything to not even have to kill the demon lord who isn’t just a black and white character. And no, she isn’t forgiving anyone who tries to kill her, she wants them punished just not, as any civilized person, get them killed. Throwing them into prison and let them rot there is enough for her.
After all it would be totally easy to kill anyone she wants – and she knows that.
The light novels are tamer than web novels sadly is common. If that’s an issue of the translation or the commercial publishing is another matter. Who knows? Of course the published version wants to reach the widest audience possible. I admit I also don’t like that but understand why it is done. Especially with such light hearted comedy novels you want to be able to reach a younger audience as well.

She is kinda dense, yes, however still pretty smart.

A bland read. The characters have the personalities of wet cardboard, the story is dull, and the MC is a pacifistic idiot who does very little of her own agency. She just exists and things happen around her.
