I think it’s still an overall decent read with a likeable MC, and it’s nice to see the relationship between the characters grow and stuff. Some of the plot in volume 1 i thought was kinda intriguing and unique too since it’s not your typical “save the world” kinda fantasy story. But somewhere along volume 2, i start to wonder if the MC isn’t just kind, but just kinda… stupid. or maybe naive. without spoiling too much, her behaviour towards another character was just baffling. It’s like she’s forgotten entirely what that character tried to do to her in volume 1. I get that making a character kind, forgiving, angelic, and whatnot can make her more “lovable”, but… i think there is a line where it just becomes too much. Anyway, while a bit formulaic, i didn’t hate the entirety of volume 2 and it was still a good way to pass some time. it didn’t really progress the storyline much, and the character growth was minor, but it was a decent read. From the looks of things, the anime will probably cover volume 2 and maybe more, so hopefully things get better.
Whole setup for the competition at the capital is really stupid. So all competitors just have to submit their finished candies and the king will judge winner? Which of course the villain of the story steal the MC’s candy and have it judge as his own and any other competitor could have submit someone else’s too. From reading it, I thought the competitors will have made their candies in front of the king to show how skill they are. But then the author would not be able write the ending the way she wanted it, to have the competition just between the villain and the MC.
I wrote a whole piece on this and then this window popped up as I hit the post button verifying/securing the connection or whatever. Which then went and refreshed the page without posting anything as it seems.

For the first volume, I don’t feel like rewriting everything else again. So in short. It has some real emotion here and there and some not to obvious twists. But also it’s set up for some annoying cliché’s in future volumes, not suited for an extended series imo.
Not bad so far. But if this is supposed to go into an extended series it’s pretty much doomed already. The volumes are reasonable short so instead of 3 it may go up to 5 before it stats to go down hill if it isn’t already on a downward slope by that point.
The first volume I’ll give a 6.2/10. It has some actual emotion, some not too obvious twists. But it’s also already set up for annoying cliché’s.
There doesn’t seem to be any actual mage craft in this fantasy world. Fairies that pop into existence because some sort of energy condensation + an observer. Who then get a special ability that’s sort of magic although maybe more in line with superpowers not that they’re all “super”. Disappointing that there are no mages and that that whole candy craft, also has no magic involvement just sculpting really. By the way they use this ‘special’ sugar extracted from ‘special’ apples. Anyway this sugar has a really low melting point, so low that the candy makers have to cool their hands working with it. But apparently holding the finished sculpted piece of sugar is no problem – a bit of an oversight on the author’s end imo.
wth is with this novel, i thought this was going into some normal shoujo until i read yours and the synopsis.
