  • Admin-san, please do the honors and release V5.

  • id like to know that too. some spoiler would help a lot.

  • So I remember there being some hype around this series cuz it was supposed to be quite good and popular in Japan so is it really good ? Nice characters? Interesting story ?

    • In my opinion, it is very good. What makes this stand out amongst other light novels, is that there is no main protagonist that the novel follows, it tells a story about a world where the Demon King has been defeated, and the main conflict is that now the people of this world have to deal with all of the powerful beings that are leftover, these “Shuras”, each one having skills and abilities that makes them overpowered in their own right.
This is exemplified with the character Yuno the Distant Talon, a young girl whose city and people were destroyed when one of these Shuras solved the labyrinth that the city was built on top of, and unleashed a gigantic golem and many smaller golems that proceed to kill everyone, but then another Shura came by, Soujirou the Willow-Sword, and defeated this golem with relative ease. Yuno then grew a hatred for these Shuras after seeing them flaunt their power with little to no regards for the general populace.
Though the Demon King has been defeated, no one has come up to say they did it, to say that they are the True Hero. The biggest kingdom at the time, Auretia, is concerned about this and is wondering why the hero hasn’t made themself known to the people yet, and they consider setting up someone to be this hero to calm the masses, but others rebuke this idea, as if they did this, and the True Hero comes forward, then it’ll be devastating on their image. So the princess of the kingdom proposes that rather than doing this discreetly, they can be more open about it; they would hold a tournament to show off their hero to the people, so that if the True Hero does show up later, they have some good press to use against the hero, asking things like, “If you’re the True Hero, how come you didn’t show up for the tournament?”. It was decided then that a number of the officials of Auretia, would search the lands for a candidate, that they believe could play the part of the True Hero, bring them to the tournament and endorse them. Of course, they have their own hero that they want to win the tournament, and the others are there just to make them look authentic.
Another interesting thing, is that each Shuras are introduced to us and we are shown what makes them so special, but by the end of the first volume, half of them have been killed off by other Shuras, so it can be surprising to see what skills and abilities work on each Shuras when they face off against each other, and how they manage to overcome each other.
The story is a bit slow at start, as we are introduced to each Shura, but it picks up in the second half of the volume when the characters is each of the previous chapters start to meet and encounter each other, so yeah, I’d say read this if you’re tired of stock light-novel protagonists and stories, and want something a bit more chaotic and unpredictable.
