Goodbye Otherworld, See You Tomorrow

The world he woke up in is long dead, dusted in ashen powder, and yet Keisuke still sees splashes of color as he travels through it. For the longest time, he’s wandered alone across the deserted landscape, clinging to the hope that something—or someone—might be out there in the emptiness. When he finally stumbles across that someone, even more threads of color start to seep into the ashen world around them.

This time, when Keisuke sets off down the road, someone sits beside him in the passenger seat. The first acquaintance he’s ever made here, his first companion in this barren world. They’re both traveling in search of something, and after searching alone for so long, maybe they’ll have better luck working together?

Their only lead is a witch who can answer any question—for a price. What will the two ask her, and what will she be able to tell them? More importantly, what will it cost them, and will they be willing to pay the price?

  • This work is such a refreshing and unique read in the sea of isekai novels!

In a slowly dying world that is already at a stage way beyond saving with a few survivors left our MC Keisuke (a former loner japanese student with a hobby of camping and cooking) and his cute companion Nito (a young half-elf girl that loves to paint) travel together in search of a place and a person somewhere in this world.
On their way they see different places, meet unique people and take part in their stories while stopping occasionally to enjoy some delish food.

The people they encounter each have their own past, personal story and of course regrets. Each of them is trying to cope with the fact the world has ended and tries to keep somehow functioning as a person in their own way.
It’s the encounter and the interaction with Keisuke (who has a unique world view as a Otherworldler) and the pure-hearted optimistic Nito that sets their stagnant lives into motion once again.
Slowly we discover that their stories are intertwined, every encounter had a meaning and our duo becomes the center that tries to mend what is broken and reconnect what was lost.
This is a story that tells about how even a world at it’s end can be beautiful and that if you are still alive it’s not too late to make effort and correct your past mistakes.

If you expect romance between the main characters, there is only little implied so far, but it’ understandable as this is written as a slow paced story.

I cried a bunch while reading and I am not a person that tears up easily (*punches wall to feel manly again), which means I really…Really….REALLY recommend this novel (if you didn’t get that already from the fact I am actually bothering to write this).

Unfortunately there are only two volumes so far (the english version is unfortunately only available in digital) and the author said on twitter that he can’t write more until he gets green light by the publisher…this story still has so much potential so I hope and pray we get to see more in the future. Or let me be reincarnated as a multibillionaire so I can sponsor underrated works as this one T-T”

  • This is actually quite good tbh, it’s a bit slow paced and more of a SOL type novel but the world the mc ends up in is quite fucked and you can really feel it.

The MC meets various people throughout and every meeting has a dark undertone to it, you can really see it’s a deadworld and everyone is losing hope, MC too seems ready to give up but then every meeting that happens brings a little bit of hope which was nice to see.

The female lead and mc have quite good chemistry and it’s interesting seeing them together, the dialogue is easy to follow and they do have a goal theyre going towards, there’s quite a bit to keep you hooked here.

Do recommend but well it’s an acquired taste lol 7/10.
